Hi
I'm still pretty new to home audio so I'm not 100 percent sure what I am doing is correct. I posted a simular message in another group but no responses so I see if any of you can help me. I have Gallo acoustic nuclues micro satelite speakers. I have ran the left and right speakers through the sub and to my reciever. I'm doing this to not allow low frequency signals to the speakers. I set the sub to 120 hz and above. Now I don't know If I can now set my 2 speakers to a large enclosure setting or should I leave it at small. The speakers are rated to 100 watts. And when its small it may be only getting 40 watts. Both settings sound ok but I want to get as much out of the speaker as i can. I also own there MPS150 subwoofer. I read the manual but its still not very clear. I emailed the company and they never answer. So I don't know. I'm wondering if anyone knows or has experience using these settings on there reciever with there own speakers or if anyone here owns these speakers. Right now its on 2 channel and I plan on purchasing a center and 2 surround speakers. I really like the speakers that I have there much clearer then anything I have heard before. I'm sure there are better products but these have suited me well. Any sort of input would be great. Also on a side note there is a slight hiss when the speaker is turned up. But thats only if i put my ear up to the speakers. Is this normal? I'm using 16 gauge monster cable and I have connected the bare wire to the receiver and sub. Should I buy connectors? Would that elimated this problem or is this farely normal on most speakers. thank you for your time. DOA |

ps.com I'm still pretty new to home audio so I'm not 100 percent sure what I am doing is correct. I posted a similar message in another group but no responses so I see if any of you can help me. I have Gallo acoustic nucleus micro satellite speakers. I have ran the left and right speakers through the sub and to my receiver. I'm doing this to not allow low frequency signals to the speakers. I set the sub to 120 Hz and above. Subwoofers work down from the crossover point. Now I don't know If I can now set my 2 speakers to a large enclosure setting or should I leave it at small. If these pages describe your speakers: http://www.anthonygallo.co.uk/micro.html then they are "small" for sure. The speakers are rated to 100 watts. And when its small it may be only getting 40 watts. Speaker ratings are for suckers. Try to keep power away from speakers this small. Both settings sound ok but I want to get as much out of the speaker as i can. I also own there MPS150 subwoofer. Seems like a reasonable match. Also on a side note there is a slight hiss when the speaker is turned up. But that's only if i put my ear up to the speakers. Is this normal? Yes. I'm using 16 gauge monster cable and I have connected the bare wire to the receiver and sub. As long as you keep the strands twisted together and the wires don't get loose or short, you're OK. Should I buy connectors? If its not broke... Would that eliminated this problem Not a chance! or is this fairly normal on most speakers. Yes. If you don't hear hissing in normal use, that's what matters. |

Ok thanks for the input expecially about the hiss. I don't hear any
hiss when there playing music or while watching DVD's. I just slightly paranoid since I bought them off ebay.... even though everything I bought was brand new. Kind of strange that this same product is so much more expensive in the UK then it is in then here in U.S. And its much more cheaper on Ebay ..most likely because of the wholesalers online. Anyways thanks for the input. |

That message did not have any detail about your configuration, so it is not surprising that you did not get any reply. I have Gallo acoustic nuclues micro satelite speakers. http://www.anthonygallo.co.uk/micro.html Anthony Gallo Nucleus Micro Specifications Frequency Response 80Hz to 18Khz Sensitivity 89 dB/w Nominal Impedance 8 Ohms Power Handling 100 Watts They give the Frequency Response without a tolerance (+/- 3dB, for instance), so the 80Hz to 18Khz is probably optimistic. I also own there MPS150 subwoofer. http://www.anthonygallo.co.uk/mps150.html http://www.anthonygallo.co.uk/images...ar_panelTN.jpg I have ran the left and right speakers through the sub and to my reciever. Ok, you are using the "speaker-level" inputs of the subwoofer: receiver =========== subwoofer ============== speaker left ============== speaker right You can also (and it is probably better) to use the "line-level" inputs of the subwoofer: subwoofer ----------- receiver ============== speaker left ============== speaker right ---------- RCA cable ============== speaker cable I'm doing this to not allow low frequency signals to the speakers. You don't need to do that. You have not said what receiver you are using, but from the context it is a home-theatre multichannel receiver with the usual configuration possibilities (subwoofer line output, bass management). If you use the second configuration above, the receiver takes care of sending the low frequency signals to the subwoofer and only the frequencies above 80 or 90 Hz to the other speakers. In the receiver configure the front speakers as "small" _and_ "bass out" to the subwoofer. I set the sub to 120 hz and above. Now I don't know If I can now set my 2 speakers to a large enclosure setting or should I leave it at small. If you are using the first configuration above you should, in the receiver, configure the front speakers as "large" _and_ "bass out" to the front speakers. If you set the speakers to "small" and "bass out" to "subwoofer", the receiver will send the bass to the subwoofer output, to which you have not connected anything. Also on a side note there is a slight hiss when the speaker is turned up. But thats only if i put my ear up to the speakers. Is this normal? The hiss happens when you select an unused input in the receiver ? If you turn off the subwoofer does it change ? -- http://www.mat.uc.pt/~rps/ ..pt is Portugal| `Whom the gods love die young'-Menander (342-292 BC) Europe | Villeneuve 50-82, Toivonen 56-86, Senna 60-94 |
