The frequency response of headphones is significantly altered by the inside structure of the human ear. Everybody's ears are made at least a little differently. OTOH, just about everybody who has heard them thinks that Sennheiser HD 580 headphones sound better than the ones that come with $19 CD players. ;-) There is an art and a science related to tailoring the frequency response of earphones to each individual listener. A good hearing aid fitter is knowlegable in the art and science of tailoring earphones to to various listeners. There is more to it than just making a comfortable ear mold. |
