Instead of coming to the conclusion that they hate classical music, maybe they
should consider the possibility that there is truth in the old saw: music (great
music) soothes the savage breast.

Or possibly delinquents hate it? Or the more likely conclusion, the sound
of any music played on crappy PA speakers will discourage loitering?

If they will just set up a biamped system with a big Velodyne set the
crossover at 60Hz and boost everything below this by 110dB, they will have
plenty interest. It will sound like crap, but that's never been an issue
with people who thrive on LF at 110dB.

:O)

hahaa !
If music had smell i wonder what it would smell like at the bus stop

Semiseriously, when i was playing all the local schools around here the
kids loved contemporary "classical" music most. (6 to 12 yrs of age kids)
The Mozarts and Schuberts we played had their minds drifting for a while
but attention was with the unexpected...

I appreciate ANY bad quality thing to be disliked anyhow
(how's that for a sentence?)

Or perhaps you meant "Vandals hate classical music".
Great idea. Not the first time it has been tried (and found
effective.)

Kids are amazing learners. My mom staged a complete production
of The Magic Flute using just elementary grade students when she
first started teaching music. When the parents found out that she
was teaching their kids to like that horrid opera stuff, they forced
the school to not renew her contract. This was a suburban Boston
area school in the 50s.

That's hard to believe! Are you sure they weren't ignorantly running
scared of the Masonic content?

The bluest of states. Gives the term "blue-bloods" a whole new

In the 1950's?

Here in Little Rock the schools were de-segregated publicly
but peacefully in 1957. Folks died integrating the Boston
(and other Northern cities' ) schools in the 1970's.

Hatefulness is non-denominational, non-local and nothing
new. There's still work to do; not a great insight on my part.

Is it the best thing for America to be turning against
ourselves? I only ask that we all examine politician's
attempts to manipulate us in that light. "Red/ Blue"? Is
this appropriate in America? is all I ask.
