Default Cubase Recording Problems

I am currently using Cubase's MI4 soundcard and Cubase SX3 with my
laptop for recording. I've done a lot of reconfiguring but am still
having clicks and pops in the recording, I assume, due to latency
issues.

I believe it has to do with the fact that my USB port shares its IRQ
with my graphics card. I have read that it is possible to run in
Sandard PC Mode which allows manual assignment of IRQ's.

Has anyone done this or heard about the problems inherent to Standard
PC Mode? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Ryan

Not sure how you blame this on latency? Though raising the latency
setting may cure the problem :-)

Check that you have selected the ASIO driver. In Cubase this is done
in Devices/Device Setup/VST Multitrack. It may need to be selected in
the soundcard's Control panel too.

Is there a setting in the Control Panel for your soundcard to select
buffer size (and hence latency)? What is it set to? Try a higher
value?

Are you attempting to record at 96KHz? Don't.

Check that your hard drive is operating in DMA mode. Look in Device
Manager, probably under the Properties for your IDE Controller Primary
and Secondary channels. Details vary with different controllers.

I don't recommend disabling ACPI on a laptop.
