Digital degradation ?
I was wanting to know if all soundcards mantain the purity of digital
signals fed into them ? Say I have an entry level 4 I/O recording interface. (I actually have one) which has SPDIF input and output. I purchase a good 2 channel ADDA external converter. Feed the soundcard with this converter and monitor off it too. Will now, this comparitively cheap card give performance equavilant to a better card, like an RME, being fed with the same SPDIF signal ?? thank you. sidhu p.s. the card in question is the esi audiotrak maya 44 mkII. ran a test using RMAA. here are the results : http://thestudio.audioshot.net/Comparison.htm please comment. the dynamic range offered by these converter is a poor 90dB. But i figure there have been ppl. doing a lot of good work before 107+ dB converters became norm. Just an afterthought. |
