Recently, I have been thinking about some comments regarding making
instruments "sit in the mix" and it got me to second guessing how my Roland
e-drums may sound in the context of the instrumentation of our band. Since
I don't have an opportunity to record our live performances much, I am not
sure how they sound at the FOH. They may clash with other instruments or
muddy up the mix and I would be unaware. The snare sounds pretty wimpy from
where I sit and in the monitors that I use. So ...



Are there any tricks or general purpose settings used in mixing drums for a
"live performance" in a small room? (i.e. EQ, compressor settings, etc.)



Do you prefer dry sounds and flat (EQ) coming from e-drum modules for
external processing?



Are these settings different (or what adjustments are made) for ballads vs.
pop/rock tunes?
