Default USB telephone tap?

I want a device that will function as a telephone tap, and provide VOX
operation to a Windows application.

Any suggestions?

A digital Richard Nixon in the works, so it would seem! You might try
calling the White House. I'm sure the Bushies have taps on EVERY
phone there. LMAO

Some voice modems may be able to bridge the line. The software to do
what you want might be either included or available online.

JK Audio makes a device that will tap into a receiver's line and provide
audio to, e.g., a sound card. Maybe they make the device you seek as
well.

That and a Griffin iMic and AudioCorder OSX will do exactly what you
want. But what there is for windoze, I don't know. There *must* be
something.

Simply a device to give a wired connection to the line, preferably by
standard modular plug, that operates when I take the phone off the
hook. The device will be adjacent to my phone.

Oh, what you're looking for is a voice modem... I don't know if there is a
USB voice modem or not.

We've got one we're playing with right now.
I'm not in the office and can't remember the name of it.
But I do know its about $500 Canadian.
Will check it out when I'm back there Saturday and post the info.

A voice modem?? A voice modem is a $29-$79 (US) item. Creative's modem
blaster is one. Whether their software makes it bridge the line and
switch on and off, I don't know.

You can do that through the TAPI interface.

Yes, as long as the hardware supports it, but the application has to
actually feature it, too.

I should have added, "maybe". TAPI sucks and it gets stupider every
revision. High-end telephony cards don't support it, except for
intel/Dialogic, because of that.
