speaker cable and powered monitors
hi,
what kind of cable should i be using for powered monitors? speaker, line or 'powered monitor' speaker cable? what's the difference? i bought the standard monster speaker cable when i bought the monitors and i was told last night i could use line cable if wanted because no load was going through the cable. that makes sense to me and i'm just looking for a little more info. thanks, dave |

No, you need shielded cable. You are sending a line level signal to the box, not a speaker level signal. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

There's no such thing as "powered monitor speaker cable" so you can't use that. You want shielded cable with the proper kind of connectors on both ends. Around here we use mic cables. I've never seen such a thing. But it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see Monster try (probably with great success) to sell it. |
