REPORT ON AES DINNER
We had a great (if noisy) time at Buca di Beppo last Thursday for our usual AES
Internet Dinner. We had 30 attendees, smaller that in previous years, and smaller than the 41 that had signed up. Since the restaurant charged us for 41, I am truly indebtted to those who put in a "bit extra" into the pot beyond the $27.50 required. As it turned out, that covered half of the $300 and Belden paid the other $150, so many many thanks. You eleven know who you are! The restaurant really outdid themselves. The food and the service were excellent and I know everyone left stuffed! We'll do it again in New York next year! Steve Lampen Belden Cable |

Steve Lampen Belden Cable Hi All Anyone at the dinner that left the restaurant hungry is their own fault. Copious amounts of good food were served. Thanks to Steve Lampen for organizing IMHO a great evening. I also was able to put faces to some of the names I see here on RAP. The only problem was the high noise level in the room that made conversation somewhat difficult. All in all an evening well spent. This was the first AES show that I have attended since the one in LA , I think it was 1976 0r 77, where I bought my first Otari MX5050 recorder. Cheers George |

I'd like to add a very belated thanks to Steve for organising this. Della and I really enjoyed meeting everyone. We've got a few more pictures which we'll put up on my JRP music site as soon as possible but in the meantime I can add a few more names to Len's picturs. Picture 2 shows Zach (Dan Dugan's assistant) on the left with Della Perrett in the middle and half of Jacques Verdier on the right. Picture 9 shows all of Jacques with Bob Smith. And if anyone that Della or I promised to contact is reading this then we've only just got back from our Canada trip so we're still catching up on things. Cheers. James. |

He was one of the grand old men of digital and looks younger than ever. How does he do that? I remember one NY AES trekking around with him and another friend from the Bay area for about an hour looking for a reported great Indian restaurant called Curry In A Hurry, which we eventually found. One of the highlights of our stay in SF was when, at the end of the dinner, Jacques asked Della and I if we had a spare hour for a quick guided tour of the area. We both piled in to his sports car parked outside and set off. It ended up being more like 3 hours but we had a great time seeing the city at night and listening to his anecdotes. Cheers. James. |
