Does anyone know of a standalone CD recorder that will use ordinary CDRs
rather than the more expensive Audio CDRs. It is for recording my own stuff so I dont want to pay the additional (copyright) tax that is included in the price of audio CDRs. Thanks |

The HHB 830 is a popular unit and I have used the old HHB 800 and been very happy with it. Marantz also makes some popular boxes. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

I can second Scotts recomendation for the HHB CDRecorders (Have an 850), My experiece with the Marantz units is that they're a pain in the neck! /ptr --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Thanks, I had been looking at consumer units such as the pioneer and the sony. I assume this type of professional unit woule be muvh better? What's the difference between the HHB830 and the 830 Plus? |

I'd put in my vote for the Sony CDR-W33, which is very reliable and
well-designed. Another good one is the Tascam CD-RW402, a double-deck that will copy CDs and CD-ROMs at up to 4X. Either can use standard computer CD-R blanks, and sounds pretty decent. I believe both were recently discontinued, but are still widely available from many dealers (and eBay). --MFW |

An extra feature is the ability to mix the SPDIF or optic input with the analog input. Jean-Marie |
