Single 12" Bandpass vs. (2) 10" sealed.
I've got a Volvo s60 (large trunk space).
Current sealed box came from the trunk of my convertible mustang (small trunk, small box). Its two 10" image dynamics powered by a Precision Power PC250 2x50 or 1x100. I'm trying to get more mid bass – I listen to lil-john, ying-yang twins type music. Setup 1: Remove the PC250 and add a more powerful amp to current sealed box. Setup 2: Put the 10's in a bandpass box with better amp. Setup 3: Scrap whole thing and start over, maybe put a single HE2 12" RFP3412 in a banpass box with a better amp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

If you want more midbass, bandpass is the last thing you want. If you want a
one note, non musical thud then go bandpass. Sounds like you need a larger amp perhaps, as you have some of the best subs on the market already. Some 6.5's in the door would help also. how is it wired?
that PPI should be very good power, perhaps your wiring and crossover could be improved? lessen the Ohm load and you increase the power to each sub....increase the crossover and add to the mid bass although you might be better off by upgrading the front speakers, don't the V60 have component sets already? add an amp to them?? I cant chop into the car too much, im leasing it. I went to best buy
and spoke with an install tech there. He told me the amp PPI PC250 was underpowered for 12" subs. He said it's only 2x50 or 1x100 and that was no good for 12"'s. He suggested going with bandpass, 2 HE2 12"s with the sony xplode 1000w amp. All in all it's 700$ worth of equip. and install time. Thats too much for just trying to add some bass. Thats' why I was thinking one HE2 in a bandpass. TY for the responses. |

If you want more midbass, bandpass is the last thing you want. If you want a
one note, non musical thud then go bandpass. Only if you do not know how to build one for your needs. There are many different types of bandpass designs beyond what is sold at best buy. But I would not expect you to understand that. Bandpass is a viable option, but it is tougher to design and construct. Setup 1: Remove the PC250 and add a more powerful amp to current sealed box. I would get a new amp. Use the Precision Power to drive the fronts. What are you using up front? If you are still stock then I would definantly upgrade that. Also, a dedicated set of midbass speakers upfront might be something to consider as well. Check your box for the exact size, then compare that against ID's website. Also, inspect the box for leaks. anyone who tells you to replace a PPI amp with a Sony Xplode is a friggin
tool. How is it wired?? could you change the wiring and drop the ohm load? that would increase the output of your amp "Mitzi" wrote in message om... I cant chop into the car too much, im leasing it. It likely will not put out enough power without clipping to meet your demands. He suggested going with bandpass, 2 HE2 12"s with the sony xplode 1000 amp. Why? Usually only a custom designed bandpass made specifically for the subs in question will perform well. I have not seen heard the subs but I have heard decent things, but the IDs you have are great. No comment on that amp. It just looks like the sales guy wants to, well, make a sale. If your box is the right size and in good condition then your only likely purchase should be a bigger amp. All in all it's 700$ worth of equip. and install time. Thats too much for just trying to add some bass. Thats' why I was thinking one HE2 in a bandpass. Keep the 2 10's, you will be much happier than a single 12. Les |

Sounds like some **** Soundfreak would throw together. Just get a bigger amp for the subs...and not a Sony. Get another PPI at least. |

You still have not learned any reading comprehension skills have you? BTW, where is that shop of yours? I am still waiting on you to prove your claims. Les |

Your installer ****ed up and is trying to blame something else aside from his shoddy work. |
