Default Best type of mic to use on an autoharp?

I am going to record my neighbor's band (they are a jug band) and one
of the instruments is an autoharp. They use it as the rhythm section
(no drummer) so they don't want the instrument to be very dynamic -
more of a zip-zip-zip in the background. I was thinking about some
type of dynamic mic, but wondered if any of you have recorded such an
instrument?

I have; a Neumann KM-84 works quite nicely. At a lower price, a good-quality
Oktava MC012 (from Sound Room -- www.oktava.com) does a good job too. Rather
surprisingly, so does a Shure SM81.

Peace,
Paul

I do. It's not very loud, so get a tight mike to prevent leakage. Move
up and down below the sound hole until you get a good balance and roll tape.
