anyone here com in to contact with the Kimber (of cable fame) "IsoMike" baffled mike set up? http://www.kimber.com/IsoMike/Default.aspx I know there is quite a few advocates for the Jecklin (and Schnider?) discs around here - any comments, chairable experiences etc about this new commer is welcome (I ask, because there seems to be a small buzz in the "HiEnd HiFi" community, how ever little that accounts for..) /ptr pius musik --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I met him at the Stereophile show a few weeks ago in NYC. I heard some
of the DSD master tapes he brought along and got a copy of the CD. I'm working on a homebrew version of the system-I can't afford his $21,000 version!! I am making my "heart" 4' instead of 8' and using Behringer ECM-8000 mikes instead of Neumann M-150's. Mine will cost less than $500, and if it gets me most of the way there, I'll be happy. Craig |

Not at all sure I could get away with using this to mic live performances here (video archives), but the concept does give one fortitude. An SASS might be cheaper, but definitely less fun. I regularly record using Jecklin and Schenider Disks. The Iso-Mike sounds much like other baffles. I found the azimuthal location cues at left/right crossover (directly ahead) a bit ambiguous, but otherwise the recordings sounded quite good. -- Len Moskowitz PDAudio, Binaural Mics, Cables, DPA, M-Audio Core Sound http://www.stealthmicrophones.com Teaneck, New Jersey USA http://www.core-sound.com Tel: 201-801-0812, FAX: 201-801-0912 |
