I was wondering if there was anywhere that i could get my hands on a
subwoofer that supports 5.1, becasue all of the 5.1 systems that i
have come across are pretty poor really so i was going to make my own
from hifi speakers and a standalone subwoofer so I can make my own.
Even if its just a big woofer with a large range like the rest, but i
don't want the piddly little speakers that come with the rest of the
5.1 speaker sets.

All over the place. What's your budget and what equipment will be
driving it?

BTW, subwoofers are single-channel devices, so the reference to
supporting 5.1 is irrelevant.

My budget isn't very high, so I'm not looking for a real top of the
range thing but I want it to be decent for the price. What I mean by
5.1 compatible, is that a lot of Home Cinema packages have 5 speakers
that plug into the sub and that plugs into the amp or whatever. It
would be more useful if the sub had a built in amp because i don't
have the funds to buy another one, Ma bad.
