Default Schoolin' on I.C.E....... a weekly educational thread about In CarEntertaintment (ICE)

I have been inspired by the thread "speaker protection"; if anyone has
not taken a look at it do so. I was amazed by the misunderstanding many
people had about what "clipping" is in an amplified sound system....

I present a project that I am willing to orchestrate if anyone is
willing at all to participate. What I hope to accomplish in this project
is a series of weekly educational threads dedicated to a particular
aspect of In Car Entertainment (ICE) and all things related. Electronic
theory. Speakers. Imaging. Wiring. Ratings. T/S Parameters. etc. are
just some of the topics which I think everyone should have a basic
understanding of. I myself do not know what I should about most of these
things which is why I want to do soemthing like this. I feel that all
have an understanding here that education can greatly improve our
experience reading and contibuting to this NG.

I know that I personally would stand to gain from this if people are
willing to contribute a topic. There is a wealth of information out
there in classrooms, magazines, books, internet resources. But as one of
the largest car audio communities on the net i think it is easiest to
bring that information here consolidated and made available for easier
discussion.

So far I have had a good response to this proposal from some
contrubutors on this NG. If you are interested in contributing to this
effort or just want to are interested even in reading a weekly schoolin'
session please feel free to email me at:

P.S. What is a good name for this thread. I was thinking about
"Schoolin' on I.C.E." a play off of "Disney on Ice" type of thing. Let
me know of something clever.

It's all already in the faq or on the page that everyone points people to.

Mark I realize that all that information is in the FAQ. However I am
talking about presenting a specific topic every week. Providing more
complete information that the FAQ does and discussing it in a thread. If
this is something you are willing to contribute to please let me know.
So far I have nothing but a good response from those interested and
willing to participate.

Good luck with your endeavor. I'm just not sure what you could cover
that the eatel.net page doesn't already cover in great detail and with
tremendous accuracy. I don't think they go into things like mobile
video or specific cars and things like that, so that could be a new
frontier.

Exactly what I am going after. I know the eatel site is very in-depth.
But it offers no room for discussion. I am planning on a strictly In Car
Entertainment thread.

What sort of topics?

Mobile video. New technologies like fiber optics. Imaging and
fabrication. Installation techniques. etc. Anything not covered on eatel
but some of the basics.
