Default Sub watt and ohm rating

Hi, just wondering if there was anyone who could please help me with the
problem I am having

I want to buy some subs, 2x10",1x12" or 2x12" im not decided on size yet
because I am having trouble matching my amp up with any subs.

My trouble is I have an amp a Legacy Vibe 250 amp which can give 2x250w @
4ohms or 2x450w @ 2ohms and is bridgeable at 4ohms to give 1x900w (all
figures are RMS)

I have searched trough many magazines and car audio websites but many do not
seem to give all necciary figures for their subs (ie only peak power or no
ohm rating) and even if I got hold of the figures I dont know how well the
subs perform in the real world.

Can some one please suggest a setup to run off this amp, i would like to
keep prices to a minimum and make the system powerful enough so the front
passengers can really feel heavy bass when i have got the music turned up.

Many thanks for any suggestions or recommendations!

Thanks, Andy

do you care a whole lot about sound quality (SQ) or is your main goal to
be loud (SPL)?

Would that be a Lanzar Vibe250? According to Lanzar's website, 2x250W @ 4ohm
RMS, 1x1000W @ 4ohm peak (which doesn't make a lot of sense ...) No
indication if the 2ohm stereo rating is RMS or peak.

Need more information ... how much room do you have? What vehicle? What
would you consider a minimum for prices? Here is a suggestion for starters
....

Four Infinity 1020W 10" (currently 5 hours left on eBay auctions involving 7
of these) in a quad chamber sealed box (0.75cf per chamber) wired
series/parallel for 4ohm. Should be able to get all four subs for ~CAN$200
($50 each) and build the box for about $75

Thats a good amp IMHO. Look into the small obscure brands before
considering the main stream stuff.

What is your budget?
How loud do you intend to listen?
How much trunk space are you willing to give up?

For starters any of these will pound... in a variety of enclosure types.

Adire Shivas, dayton titanic and Adire DPL12 should be high up on your
list... IMHO Great subs for the $$$.

Yes it is the Lanzar Vibe250, yeah the website really doesnt help with
specifications (similar trouble im having with the sub websites!) but in
the manual which came with the sub it does give the spec as i put in the OP,
ie, 250w per channel at 4ohm RMS and 450w per channel at 2ohm RMS obviously
giving 900w RMS when bridged.

Also I am driving a hatchback so sound will be getting through fairly easily
and there is a fair bit of room (sanitarium I am willing to give up about
1/2 the space i think because i still want to be able to fit somethings in
there)

Thanks to both of you for your recommendations and I will check them out now
any more subs that you think would be suitable knowing this extra info
about car etc would be gratefully recieved

Thanks again!

In a hatchback you definately have room for 4 10"s in small sealed
enclosures if you are will to give up 1/2 the space. To be realistic though,
one 10" would be enough IMO. Where are you at Andy?

Thanks for replying so soon Daniel, Im based in the UK so I can get hold of
most brands or models you would suggest other than the lesser known ones
unfortunatly

From looking on this group though and your recomendation of maybe only using
one 10" I have started realising my dream of using my amp to its full 450wx2
potental is going to be pretty expensive and overkill in my car! lol!

I have seen great price on two 10" vibes in sealed box on ebay i think i
will have a go for, any extra thoughts on these subs would be welcomed.

Thanks again for your advice

Used equipment is your friend (if you can get it from someone you trust).

Not necessarily expensive, but probably overkill.

Just set up the amp properly (gains, bass boost, etc.) and the Vibes will be
fine.

I agree... Man I just scored a powerbase SX15D sub for $85 used on Ebay.
These were really expensive when they first came out... I think over $300.

holy moly the thing weighs 50 pounds and will probably destroy my car if I
power it to its full capacity.

Great deals on ebay...
