check about 3/4 the way down today's news(though all of the resignations are also a good bit of luck. It seems as if the Greens made good on their promise - and so far, at least one local race has been overturned due to an examination of the votes. It's oficially hit the fan. I couldn't be happier to see the joke that our voting system is take some flak and close examination. It's been hopelessly corrupt for decades. |

Maybe if Colin Powell had received some lovin' like that, he would have considered staying. Boon |

Close races and recounts, especially in local elections, is a fairly common and expected result in any election system. |

Do you really think Condy Rice will be an improvement over Colin Powell? Powell ultimately left because no one would listen to him, and he was shut out of the inner circle. He was the voice of reason in many cases. Rice is nothing but a yes-(wo)man. Well, Rice is more likely to get indicted and removed from power in her new position, so in a round-about way, yes. |

It's a shame to see such a decent man have to endure that. I see no problem with him fleeing the ship before it sinks, taking the vermin with it. That he waited this long - well, he's far more patient than most people I know. |

Powell could have quit at any time during Bush's first term. But if he had, it would have been a slap in the face to the Commander-in-Chief, and would have effectively ended Powell's career in the Republican party. If the American people had elected Kerry, it would have solved his problem immediately. We didn't, and he had to resign. Norm Strong |
