Default car stereo help -- where do these wires go?

i just got a 'Power Acoustik' car radio & cassette player.

i know where the speaker wires are, and the power one i'll put to my
cigarette ligher (as it gets turned on/off by the keys), and the
back-up i'll put to a wire that comes directly off the + terminal of
battery.

but where do these ones go, and what do they do?

1. tel mute (blue)
2. auto-ant (br) (auto antenna presumably, but i don't have one)
3. dimmer (YW)

thanks,
Charlie (electrical newbie)

If you're going to connect it directly to the battery terminal - don't
forget to fit an in-line fuse for safety ( in case the wire chafes and
shorts to chassis ) ! Use a 1 amp fuse - that's all you need. Usually
there *something* on the dash that you can tap into, like a clock
supply, that's already fused though.

They go nowhere if you haven't got anything to use them. Insulate them
and bundle them up.

thanks for that, i'll do so. but i'm still curious about them -- do you know
what does the telephone mute & dimmer functions are meant to do?

Cheers,

Yeah - the tel mute reduces the volume of the radio / CD when you answer your car phone.

The dimmer input ( if it's the same as the one I formerly had ) reduces the illumination level when night
driving ( i.e. when your headlamps are on ). I have a unit without a dimmer input right now - and it *is* a bit
bright at night.
