Default Question For Trevor

You don't suppose that they also gather their own intel through other
sources, do you?

**Of course. They just chose to ignore them and rely on (incorrect) US
sources.

The point is simple, Bush is not in charge of the CIA, which was saying
the same thing before Bush took office, indeed Tenet was CIA director
under Bill Clinton.

**Then Dubya needs to clear out the CIA and any other intelligence agencies
he used. Clearly, they don't have a clue. Why has he not done this? Such
incompetence should not be rewarded.

There was no sudden shift in opinion from the intelligence community to
start claiming something they had not been saying previously.

Personally I wish they had gotten more accurate intel, it makes things
much easier.

Claiming Bush made it up or that the CIA was in cahoots to try and bring
false info in order to start a war is simply not backed up by any facts
from any source.

**Then why has Dubya not cleared out the CIA of all the incompetent people.
Clearly, the CIA is riddled with morons.

Not that such things are important to the left, especially in an election
year.

**Good intelligence information IS important. Why has Dubya left the CIA
alone? He needs to weed out the idiots NOW.

How do you know they didn't all reach the same conclusion, independently?

Because in other situations they have been on target and correct.
Because it is not a perfect art.

Not really, it made an apparent mistake, that is unless the information was
true and Saddam hid the stuff.

You should try getting some.

**Because at least one Australian intel guy quit his job, after being
ignored by the government. He, at least, had the balls to stand up to the
government. Then there's those pesky UN reports, which stated that Saddam
did not have the capacity to develop WMDs any longer. Moreover, the UN had
already stated that most of the existing WMDs had been destroyed.

The point is simple, Bush is not in charge of the CIA, which was saying

**It is, when there is abundant eviddence to draw on. The UN had all the
information the CIA required.

**A "mistake" which has cost the lives of thousands of people. Someone needs
to pay for that "mistake".

It's not a gamble, it's a matter of history. Everybody we we defeat winds
up being left better off than before.

Except for Native Americans and the subjugation (though
not from war) of blacks.

**It is a great pity that Vietnam did not lose. They would be much better
off.

Of course because he's a Republican, if he were a Democrat it would be OK.

I'm sure Mickey thought Bill Clinton's antics were much worse for the
public trust than your basic graft and corruption.
