I suspect there will be stock for years to come.
Prices will go thru the roof, though.

No, just another example of how snake oil doesn't *keep*.

When kept in safe storage in good amplifiers, they'll have a long and
prosperous life ;-)

It's funny you would call them 'snake oil', actually. The capacitors'
superior performance in every respect has seen them used in TVs,
videos, DVD players, CD players, test equipment--anything that
requires an extremely high performance capacitor. Indeed, to measure
just how fantastic their performance is, the test equipment itself has
to be modified with Black Gates. Search the web if you don't believe
me.

Please quantify, in standard technical terms, the alleged superior
performance of these parts.

You mean to sell them? I don't have an Ebay account. I will be
stocking up, but certainly not to sell them. I wonder whether the
inventors will license another manufacturer to produce them. I hope
so. I don't believe in magic, but I do believe in Black Gates. :-)

Do remember that they age rather quickly.
Best way to "store" them is to keep them happy under supply voltage.
I.e in an amplifier :-)

Ebay is great. You should try it!

I'm about 10 miles away from Ebay's corporate HQ.
They have lovely receptionist. I can help open an account.

I'm currently not using my line level tube preamp made by Audio Research.
It uses (4) 6922. Is it better to keep it plug then ?

Incidentally, I replaced it with a McKintosh C-41 preamp many moons ago.

Do your own research.

Thanks for admitting that you don't know what you are talking about, Devil.

No doubt. The price of the excellent Cerafine capacitors went through
the roof when production stopped. The BGs are already very, very
expensive compared to alternatives, so only God knows what'll happen
when supplies become scarce.

Perhaps, people will stop being distracted from real technology by pretend
snake-oil products.

The ones I'm particularly interested in are the WKZ 'Heart of Muse'
types. They have very long life. For the capacitors to retain their,
um, 'magic' they have to be used regularly. If they're not used for a
few weeks, then they need between fifty and a hundred hours in circuit
to come back to life. Keeping capacitors on the shelf for a long time
won't hurt them--they'll just need to go through the burn-in process
from new, i.e. about a hundred hours in circuit.

Devil, you forgot the part where you dab fresh chicken blood on the
capacitors to make them sound good.

I doubt if your ARC has Black Gates stock.
For the tubes it's no problem.
The electrolytics may need to form again after several years.
Best way to do this is to use a variac at first.

What I really meant is that there's the need of forming them again.
Putting any elcap after a few years cold on 400 volts or so will ruin
the dielectric. BGs are no exception, in fact they're more sensitive
to proper burning in.
Chances are that after several years of storage, they'll never come
back to their initial parameters at all.
This goes for FKs, but I see no reason why the WKZ would be any
different.

Thanks. I feel much better now, note.
