Default Halcro dm38 or Mark Levinson No.33H?

I want to upgrade my system:

Parasound P3
Parasound JC1
Martin Logan Prodigy
Sony SCD-1

Right now, I'm debating between the Halcro dm38 and the Mark Levinson
No.33H. Which one is better to drive my Prodigy?

Also, any suggestion to replace the P3? Any good SACD player other than the
SCD-1?

Thanks in advance!

Hey, you stole my system! Well almost.....

Right now, I'm debating between the Halcro dm38 and the Mark Levinson
No.33H. Which one is better to drive my Prodigy?

Neither one is an improvement over the JC1's. In fact the 33H is a downgrade
for sure. Neither can drive the Prodigys like the JC1's. CTC BBQ, Classe
Omega monos or Spectral DMA-360 monos could be better. I use a CTC Blowtorch
preamp with my JC1's and that IS an improvement over the P3. That's where
I'd spend my money - and did it too. But even before the preamp I'd add a
pair of ML Descent subs to the system - like I did! I got the preamp first
but the subs made a way bigger difference.

I've heard the Prodigys with the DMA-360's and the prerequisite DMC-30
preamp and they absolutely sing in a professionally designed room with a
Spectral CD and Basis analog front ends. However, my JC1, Blowtorch, SCD-1
and SME based system goes where the Spectral system simply couldn't due to
the extra dynamics, soundstage and the overall "foundation" afforded by the
subs.

Also, any suggestion to replace the P3? Any good SACD player other than
the
SCD-1?

Hmmm....you want it all. Sony's got a new $11K reference player already
available in Japan and soon in the US. They also have a matching 300WPC
integrated digital amp. How about those two with a pair of Descents?
But....I'd really keep those JC1's. They are the least limiting component in
your system.

Perhaps we should both upgrade our speakers first. Some folks out there
think that the NEW Innersound reference speakers blow away the ML's but I
haven't heard them yet. I know the older Eros did not. Unfortunately the new
Statement is a mess and in many respects inferior to the Prodigys so there's
nowhere to go with ML's. I think the Statement suffers from too many drivers
that do not quite blend together. However, they have the most stupendous
bass I've ever heard and a spectacular soundstage width and height.

Thanks in advance!

Lawrence

Cheers!

Margaret
