Hey everyone.I was just wondering what are the possible negative points of running a HU with 6 volt preamp outputs to an amplifier
that states the maximum preamp input voltage is 4 volts? I'm only asking because I bought an amplifier, and because of it's 4 volt limit, it eliminates all of the headunits I was looking at buying, because most of them include 5 to 6.5 volt preamp outputs. Thanks for any input, Daniel Roberts. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). That would cause too much bass at higher volumes but not enough at lower volumes. An in-line attenuator can fix it. |

![]() An inline attentuator is not needed as the pre-out voltage MAX is 6v . That would mean turning your head unit up past clipping point . Also , most music is dyanmic , so 6v would not be seen playing music but rarely even if the head unit did not clip the signal at all with volume at amx . No head units have a pre-out signal that will not once volume is pushed to max .. Adjust the gains to the 4v point on the amp , watch the volume on your head unit and leave EQ such as bass boost and loudness and bass/treble to ZERO or attentuate those 2 or 3db if the music is bright in those frequency ranges . If you are using sub pre-out - set the sub volume to its maximum level on the head unit before setting gains . You will be fine and it should sound great .. Do not buy an attentuator .. -- Mister_B ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mister_B's Profile: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/me...p?userid=28133 View this thread: http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/sh...d.php?t=199691 CarAudioForum.com - Usenet Gateway w/over one million posts online! |
