Default Note for Sander (and anyone else interested in valves) LONG!

Anyway, I hope others find this useful. For me, KT88s in triode are
the supreme reproducers of music. And man, just *how* great they sound
in my amps is something to behold.

I always knew this :-)
Even the lowbrow JJ Teslas I use, show this effect.

Some time ago, an old friend brought 2 Jadis JA-80 monoblocks for a
checkup and if necessary, replace the valves.
There were EI KT90s in there, testing 100% on my AVO and matched.
The Jadis' use UL operation.
We put in the cheap JJ KT88s.........it got worse.
Then we did the same comparison in triode mode, but with higher values
for Rg2 because of the increased Pg2.
Bingo!

Very glad - and relieved - to be back in musical heaven! :-)

I'll tell you a little secret: There *are* no typical Siemens valves.
Siemens bought them from Telefunken. Really.

How's your German?

Interesting! More fun than listening for warm-up effects on the Quads...

At least they won't arc with the power of said KT88s in triode :-)

Have you any experience with the Svetlana KT88s? They seem to have a
very shiny rep (some say they're as good as the original GECs).

I've only used the 6550 Svet in the past.
A very fine valve, you will note.

I once traded a matched quad KT88 Gold lions for I don't know what,
but boy did I regret that later!

For a whole week I've been looking forward to having you yank out my
front teeth with that burdizzo. I'm on my way to the operating chamber
right now. Give me just a moment to put on my leather harness. Oh, and
don't lift me up so close to the ceiling this time.

Yes!!! I have blisters on my fingers!!

BTW, while searching your sleeping chambers for gold scraps, I noticed
KT 88's under the pillows. Yours or the brides???

Apparently the Svetlana KT88 is a reproduction of the Genalex Gold
Lion KT88, so perhaps all isn't lost. A quad of Svet KT88s goes for
around £150 here, but you'll have to work out whatever that is in your
weird Euromoney.

That would amount to about 350 euro, I think.
Why didn't we adopt the pound, or even the dollar?
An Euro is around 1.22 dollars these days.

Incidentally, what is the equivalent of pence or cents for the Euro?

Cents. Euros. Thousands. Quads. Millions. Remote Islands!

I much prefer your hair now that it stands up as you work from your
oscillatory, reflex-driven, pump-action Tesla coil operatory stool,
BTW. An invention of a true genius!

Bull. You can't take your slanted, dilated, bulging eyes off of my razor
sharp, stainless steel cuspids, as they induce 1 million volt arcs,
burning images of hell on your retina. My saliva glows green in the
darkness of the dungeon, you call home.

If the Blue Witch Project gets his way, we'll be giving up our
currency as well. Bleh's deariest friend, The disgraced Fairy
Godmother, Lord of the Dome, Peter Mandelson has been brought out of
his closet to be our European Commissioner.

Dunno the man, but never ever adopt the Euro.
It's a disaster (well, maybe not for people with stock in banks).

I'll take the lot, thank you. I hope your bags are free. I hate paying
2 pence for a plastic ****ing bag.

My airbags came free. Still dazzling from it.
What's so special about a *plastic* ****ing bag, BTW?
I'd much prefer the leather*) version, note.

*) Connolly, of course.
