Default Hooking up single subwoofer in my car...

I want to hook up 1 subwoofer in my car so as to save space and
weight. My amp (USX 2050) is rated at 160W @ 4 Ohm bridged. My
subwoofer is a PPI 108, (10", 8 ohm). My understanding of the ohms is
still a little hazy. Am I essentially cutting the effectiveness of my
amp in half to drive this sub and if I were to go out and buy a 4 ohm
sub then it would be practically twice as loud?

Thanks a lot

Another unrelated question, is it practical/possible to hook up 2 amps
to one subwoofer or would that wreak havoc especially if they were
different brands?
