Default Help with 5-channel amp selection

Someone did a smash and grab on my car last Sunday and stole my Alpine
MRV-F357 amplifier. They must have been scared off from the parking
lot before they were able to steal any other components, so I am
somewhat fortunate given the circumstances. Now I am looking for a
replacement 5 channel amplifier.

I need to get an amplifier that has 3 RC inputs for my sound processor,
and has 5 channels of amplification. I need the sub output to be 4
ohms split into 2 RCA inputs. My sub is rated at a maximum 125W RMS.
My requirements a

- Compact and light (it will be mounted on my rear seat back, the only
possible position in my SUV).
- 3 sets of RCA inputs (to run from my sound processor into the amp).
- Low distortion and high signal-to-noise ratio.
- Sound quality is more important then sound level.
- Reliable and durable.
- Clean sound.

I wish the US Amps 5-channel had the RCA inputs for the sub, but it
does not look like it does. From the diagrams I have seen, the
Soundstream Van Gogh VGA-800.5 does not seem to have RCA inputs for the
sub either. The Alpine MRV-F450 meets all my needs, but I would like
to try something different. The JL Audio 500/5 seems to meet all my
needs, but I am not crazy over the idea of different wattage to the
fronts and rears. The Memphis looks to be very nice, but is too wide
to mount on my seat back.

My budget is around $500. Can anyone offer me other suggestions?

Thanks

GregC,

The lower wattage of the rear fill channels on the JL really is nice ..

Only recommendation I can make otherwise is a VIPER 450.5 which I can
get for you under $200 .. Leave me your email me for details .. rated
at 35x4@4ohms ( 100x2 Bridged ) 150 rms @ 4 ohms sub channel / 250 rms
@ 2ohms does 300 watts steady at 2 ohms .. Very nice little amps 19" l
x 11" w x 2 " d ..
Leave me an email address or a private message if you would like info
Welcome to the forum !!

My condolences, although insurance is great, the feeling of your privacy
being invaded outweighs all sometimes!

I bought one of these while building a budget SQ system, I am very happy
with it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...4163 028&rd=1

Picked it up from an authorized MTX dealer New Old Stock with full warranty
off Ebay for about $200. It doesn't pull much current (very efficient) and
seems to be quite under rated as I have yet to hit it's limits (not a
boomer, but will sometimes crank) It sits behind the seat of a standard
pickup with little air circulation, it has never shut down or gotten
excessively hot, BUT, I am running 1X 4 ohm sub, 2X 4 ohm mids, and 2X 8 ohm
tweets, triamped. I'm not stressing it that bad.

Greg,

It sounds like you're over the Alpine MRV-F357, but if you're
interested I'll sell you mine that I just took out the other day.

It works great but doesn't fit my car well and I'm downsizing.

E-mail me if you're interested.

Doug

I'm happy, Looks nice inside too!!! High quality circ boards and good
soldering. Being a tech I just HAVE to take it apart before using it
