5.1 PC Audio Kit
Hi,
My kid had a Creative (Cambridge Soundworks) DTT-3500 Digital 5.1 PC speaker system. The decoder is now fubar. Nobody here knows how to repair it, it's out of warranty, and Creative recommended a $250 replacement :-( I understand the decoding is done on the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 computer audio board, which my kid still has. He also has 5.1 perfectly working speakers. What do I need to get his setup working? Is it only a matter of power amplifying the audio board's output and feeding it to the speakers? A 5.1 power amplifier for PC speakers? Anybody knows of a non-expensive product, kit or schemas (220V/50Hz)? Regards, Avi |

I've had two sets of digital speakers from them, and both of the digital decoder cards went bad. The ultimate solution is this: Go to walmart and get yourself a cheap budget surround sound system with a modest subwoofer; NOT FOR A COMPUTER, for a HOME THEATRE. The sound will beat the hell out of anything Creative makes, it won't cost you an arm and a leg, and it'll probably last. |
