Just decided to hook up a pristine Revox B77 I got. I also picked up
some open-reel prerecorded tapes and when I play them, the sound is really dull. I first thought it was an azimuth problem, but I tried a couple of different prerecorded tapes, one of which was never played and the result was the same; really dead, dull sound. I seem to recall that there were a couple of eq systems used in the open-reel days (NAB and another whose name I can't remember) Am I a 'victum' of mis-matched eq's? And if so, any URL's for a playback filter schematic? I don't really want to wade into the Revox eq settings....... |
