Default I confess = I'm a neurotic - Please help!

I recently had my living room painted. A thin film of dry paint dust
covered my integrated amplifier. I wiped it off the top. However, I am
now wondering if there will be any effect on the amplifier if any of the
paint dust went into the vented portion on top. The music still sounds
great right now, and the integerated amp does not get any warmer than it did
before. My question is can the paint dust cause any damage, either now or
in the future?

Thanks in advance,

Randy

I'd say don't worry about it - just keep any moisture out in the meantime,
and blow out the dust with a compressor when you get a chance.

I just took the cover off and there is no visable paint dust in there. Does
that mean the amp is OK or do I still need to blow out any hidden particles?

Thanks
Randy

Likely wouldn't hurt to get a can of compressed air (photography sources
are likely candidates) and blow out whatever is in there. Whether invisible
paint particles or dust bunnies.

OTOH, consider a more pratical therapy for your neurosis! :-)

Can't be too bad then. Just put it back together.

The dust should not do anything, unless you were having aluminium or some
type of metal based conductive paint being sanded, which I would doubt. You
can remove the cover from the unit, and blow it out with compressed air, if
you want to clean it out.

Next time, be neurotic where it's more useful - cover your gear
before starting the paint job :-)

Unless it's some special metallic paint, it's unlikely to do any harm.
If dust's got into any pots, you'll soon hear about it!
