Default Bose 301 speakers

I want to hook a Radio Shack Minimus amplifier to a pair (two) Bose 301
speakers.

Does this affect my choice of turntable? I was thinking of a Garage 95, and
I'm wondering if I can put my ceramic cartridge in it.

Also, how much should I spend on a power cord? I can cut the cable off the
Minimus amplifier close to the chassis and solder on a high end power cord.

No flames pleeze! I want only helpfull advize.

Your regards,
Sugarite

If you want really helpful advice, you might begin by not trolling with a
fictitious post. I refer, of course, to your referene to a "Garage 95"
turntable and "ceramic cartridge". While the latter may still exist - if
hardly ever used = the former does not - unless you can cite evidence of its
existence - past or present.

Nice try.

I am sorry, it is a Garard. It was in the Garage. An honest mistake.
Am I on the right track with this, or should I be upgrading?

Radio Shack has a cheap phono preamp so you can use your amp line in.
Cheap new cartridges are available, as are new turntables.

Enjoy those 301s! The elderly gentleman I knew who owned a pair was
delighted with his.

Modern turntables can be had for pretty reasonable prices these days ( $ 300.00
or less as another poster wrote) from companies like Music Hall. Here's an
example of a modern turntable, complete with cartridge installed by the dealer:

http://www.lpgear.com/Merchant2/merc...re_Code=LG&Pro
duct_Code=MMF21&Category_Code=MHTT

A product such as this will IMHO represent substantial improvements over a
Garrard 95, given advancements in turntable design and build quality over the
many years ago since the Garrard 95 was manufactured. The cartridge included
will also sound significantly better than any ceramic cartridge you might find.
(Most modern cartridges are either magnetic or moving coil, not ceramic).

You might also want to check out the web site of Needledoctor, Inc.

www.needledoctor.com

This dealer's website will give you an idea of the very broad price range of
modern products now available.

(I have no connection with either dealer recommended here).

Buy two more Bose 301's and a an old Dynaco 4 channel enhancer. Might as
well
go for surround sound!

Drying out is more like it.

If you want to troll, ask about gouging kits and pink noise generators.

I can confirm that "George" knows what he is speaking about. ;-)
