Wireless connection
Richard,
I saw your post in the rec.audio.pro newsgroup regarding a wireless interconnect. There are some pretty good solutions out there, but one you might not expect is from Radio Shack. It is the Audio Link system. It is a 900MHz system that can be set up for any of eight channels. You can get a belt pack transmitter that takes both a mic (1/8") and line (1/4") inputs, and runs on 9V battery. It is Radio Shack No. 32-1252. A hand-held microphone is also available. The corresponding receiver is No. 32-1250. The receiver has a BNC antenna, both Hi-Z unbalanced (1/4") and lo-Z balanced (XLR) outputs, and switchable mic or line output level. It uses a 12VDC wall wart power supply. It has front panel output control and bass and trebel tone controls. I have one of each of these and have used them very successfully over a distance of about 200 feet. The output of the receiver is a little lower than some other equipment, but is plenty for driving the line input of nearly any amplifier or another mixer input. You can get the whole set up for about $175 - both transmitter and receiver. It makes a very nice system at a great price for what you are doing. If you are working on a tight budget, it might do the trick for you. It's not high end stuff, and there certainly is better stuff out there, but it might be worth your time to check it out. Hope this helps. Good luck. Toby Maki Intermedia Riverside, CA |
