How does the Roland BR 8 digital recorder stack up against the vs880 Roland
or the Tascam 788. I know on the 880 you can only record two simultaneous
tracks at the same time. Same thing with the BR 8? What are the pros and

You can record 4 simultaneous tracks on the VS880. I've had one for years,
just selling it now, used it lots of times for this. Don't know about the
other units though.

The sound quality was great with the 880 but the built in mic pres are
nothing, really, and there are no XLR jacks, no phantom power. If you have
a decent mixer the 880 is fine. The menu system is a bit daunting but is
easy enough with some practice (like most other things like this.) If you
look on ebay they are often there for under $300. A GREAT bargain for
someone who has a mixer and doesn't need computer interfacing. Hook up a
zip scsi or a hard drive and there ya go.

I'm selling mine because I want to record directly to a laptop for editing
purposes. I'm spoiled by the visuals in protools.
