hi all
would like to sell my nomad jukebox 3 20gb mp3 player. I used it to
record band rehearsals, but the band broke up, so I started using it
for music, but since i am in my car 90% of the time and my car has no
tape deck for an adapter, I don't use it very much
comes with ac adapter, software, Sony headphones, and i'll include the
manual and the latest firmware on a CD-R. Unit has some wear, but the
screen is in great shape and it works perfectly.
$175 incl. shipping, or trade for ??.

Just letting you know that Creative sells refurbs on eBay. I got mine for
$180. Not trying to kill your business, Rich, but just letting everyone
know.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the
country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag
the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a
parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can
always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have
to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for
lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

WWII.

Just let the guy sell his deck for cryin' out loud.
If you are not trying to kill his business, just leave the ad alone.
Anyone educated would surely check ebay first on their own.
Let it be...

Sorry, just educating people. I thought that's what newsgroups were all
about. Fine, I take it back; I never said that you could buy the same unit
on eBay directly from the manufacturer for less money. But you can. : )

hey tom, thanks fo the heads-up, i know this.
My unit is $20 less after shipping is included, plus I'm including a
decent pair of sony headphones, mid-size "studio monitor" (and i use
the term loosely) type, instead of the absolute crap they give you
with the unit, which developed a healthy buzz after about 2 weeks of
use.
Anyway, I'm open to offers, as is anyone who posts I imagine...

Sounds like a fair deal to me. I bought mine new shortly after they
first came out and paid close to $300 for it, I think (from Amazon).
Some people think that anything used, from a private seller, has to be
substantially cheaper than something from a commercial seller or
lowest auction price or else it's a bad deal. But the price can only
go down so far on a device that's still in fairly common use.

Besides, what does Creative Labs do when they refurbish these
Jukeboxes that they sell for $180? I'll bet they don't (all) get new
disk drives, new buttons, new battery, and new jacks. Other than that,
what's to wear out? They should last forever.

To be honest, though, for $20 + shipping difference in price, since
I don't need any more headphones, I'd probalby opt for one with a
factory warranty just in case. And, no, off the top of my head, I can't
say just how many dollars a warranty would be worth to me, but I
have never purchased an extended service contract for an appliance
or computer. I find that consumer items generally are either DOA,
die within a rather short time, or outlast their warranty if not abused.

I'm guessing they fix whatever's broken (often nothing), put on a new faceplate and package them.

FYI it's only 30 days on the refurbs.

Other than that, what's left apart from a few IC's?

They should last forever.

Or nearly as long as the hard drive, buttons, jacks and LCD display last
anyway. (i.e. a couple of years if you're lucky!)

If you only sent him $500 for 2 414's, I can see why he wouldn't send
them to you.

A message like that pretty much blows his credibility here.

I would just like to say that I can't believe how a simple post trying
to sell an mp3 player exploded into this ridiculousness.
sorry for eating up the bandwidth!
