Peluso ELAM 251 Tube Mic, US$950
This is a telefunken 251 clone tube mic designed and made by John Peluso, http://www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/PelusoMikes.html This is brand new, still under the manufacturer's 3 year warranty. I bought a number of mics from them and then the tax bill came, need I say more? This mic that has been much talked about recently on the recording discussion boards. Anyway it's a wonderful and very classy tube mic made by someone who has repaired, designed, and built mics for 26 years. No cheap chinese clone but a very detailed and rich sounding mic. It comes with it's own power supply and shock mount. Currently even if you wanted to buy one direct, you'd have to wait a while since they are back ordered. From the website: 22 251 Vacuum Tube Microphone This microphone is styled after the vintage "ELAM 251". It has the additional feature of 9 polar patterns, controlled from the power supply. It captures the nuances of the original "251" sound. The microphone comes as a complete system, with Microphone, Power Supply, 7 Conductor Cable, and Shock Mount. Hand built in the USA. Henry |
