Default Recording acoustic guitar - 50dB too much gain?

My recording chain is

Studio Projects C1 - Gret River 1NV - Lynx2

I have the inputs on the Lynx set to +4 dBs. But to record the acoustic with
decent levels I have to crank the preamp to around 50dB. I have the mic
about 6 inches away, pointing towards 12th fret.

Is the amount of gain normal?
