Cambodia - The Truth
Cambodia - 1979
a republic of Southeast Asia, cambodia is the southwest part of the Indochine Penninsula, on the Gulf of Thailand, bordered by Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Area 181,035 sq Km. pop (est 1979): between 4.5 and 5 millionaccording to officil figures. It is estimated to comprise Khmer 93%; Vietnamese 4%, and Chinese 3%. Cap Phnom Pehn ( urban area pop 1979 est 270,000 ) Foreign Trade (1973) Imports: 14.2 Billion Riels; Exports 2.7 Billion Riels Import Sources USA 69%, Thailand 11%, Singapore 5% Japan 5% Export Destinations: Hong Kong 23%, Japan 5%, Malaysia 18%, France 12% Spain 10% Main Export ; Rubber 93% ( question what do all these countries have in common? They are all client states of America) On january 7th 1979 Rebel guerillas backed by Vietnam seized powe in Phnom Pehn and set up a "People's Revolutionary Council" headed by Heng Samrin, president of the kampuchean United Front for Salvation ( KUFNS). THere wre conflicting reports about the fate of the fallen regime's leaders. Former foriegn minister Ieng Sary was said to have been rescued by a Thai ( American allie ) helicopter while head of state Khieu Samphan http://angkor1431.tripod.com/index/id30.html apparently escaped in a Chinesse aircraft. From bases in China the Pol Pot group quickly organized military resistance and a diplomatic offensive against the new regime. Heng Samrin lost no time in announcing an eight point program that pledged restoration o freedom of the people. This liberalization and the end of the Pol Pot regime, which had become known as one of the cruelist in modern times, seemed to mark an upturn for the better in Cambodia. But political realities pointed otherwise. The fact that Pol Pot's ouster was the result of a Vietnamese invasion raised fears in Southeast Asia of and expansionist Hanoi. China resentful of Vietnam's hedgemony in Indochina, coontinued it's support of the fallen Pol Pot. Influetial US Circles argued against normalizing relations with the Hanoi Government. The result was that Pol Pot continued to recive diplomatic recognition at the UN. ( Confirmed by a general assembly vote on September 21rst) meaning the USA and teh rest of the Security council recognised Pol Pot even after the Vietnamese deposed him, even after his genocide was brought to light and subsatnial Chinese assistance in organizing a guerrilla campaign. Cambodia slipped into a new civil war, with the Pol Pot faction claiming to have killed or captured 40,000 among an estimated 200,000 Vietnamese troops in the country and the Heng Samrin government claimig 42,000 Pol Pot guerrillas as casualties. A further diplomatic complication for Heng Samrin was provided bt former head of state Prince Norodom Sihanouk. After keeping him under house arrest for the three years it was in power, the Pol Pot government had released Sihanouk on Jan 6th (1979) He was given the task of speaking for Cambodia at the UN Security Council, where a complaint against Vietnamese "aggression" had been filed. But after denouncing Vietnam's policy of "annexation and hedgemony" Sinahouk turned on his former tormentors, and rejeted all attempts by the Pol Pot government to enlist him as an ally. From Bejing, and P'yongyang, North Korea, he launched his own diplomatic campaign that he alone had the recognition and legitamacy to end the fighting and establish an independant government. Neither the diplomatic Ballyhoo nor the punitive war China unleased on Vietnam on February 17th seemed to shake Heng Samrin or Hanoi's backing of him. In February Vietnamese Priemier Pham Van Dong paid an official visit to Phnom Penh and signed a peace and friendship treaty. In August a special people's Revolutionary Tribunal in Phnom Penh sentanced Pol Pt and Ieng Sary to death, after a trial in absentia, on charges of systematic massacre, evacuation of urban populations, forced establishment of communes, and extermination of monks, religiou believers, and intelligentsia. The following month the government won a point when the summit meeting of nonaligned nations in Havana left teh Cambodian Seat vacant. Through all the political manouvers, the extent of the human tragedy in Cambodia kept growing. Refugees flowed into Thailand, sometimes to be driven back by Thai authorities. More than two million people were believed to be starving Phnom Pehn at first refused to allow intrnational aid lest the Pol Pot forces also benifit from it, nut by September 1979, Red Cross and UN Childrens Fund assistance began to flow into the country. Opening the sencond congress of the KUFNS in September Heng Samrin admitted the famine conditions but blamed the Pol Pot regime. Noting that the agriculture and industry had been reduced to zero, he said thousands of tonnes of aid were pouring in from the Soviet Union and Vietnam. Meanwhile Vietnam began an all-out military campaign to wipe out the remnants of Pol Pot's supporters. Heavy fighting near the Thai border forced more refugees to flee into Thailand, further straining that country's ability to care for them. On December 27th 1979 the former regime's ambassador to China announced that Khieu Samphan had became premier in place of Pol Pot, who was now commander in cheif of the guerrilla forces. T.J.S. George 1979- founder of Asiaweek Main points: Vietnam and Cambodia are two differant countries, Will Miho likes to confuse them, in order to make the American slaughter of 2 million Vietnamese sem more "paletable". Pol Pot's regime ended due to the actions of the Vietnamese Government. America's intrests and actions in Cambodia made a guerrilla war last many years longer needlessly at an untold loss of life. The UN continued to recognise Pol Pot even after the atrocities were revealed. That measn that the USA for vengeful reasons would rather see people Die and suffer, than do the "Right Thing". China invaded Vietnam for "punitive reasons" because Vietnam ousted Pol Pot. There was support for China doing this in the west, there was not criticisim. This led to anti-chinesse sentiments in Vietnam, and the Boat people crisis. The Aid that came to Cambodia to relive the crisis once Pol Pot was overthrown was NOT from America, it was from the Soviets, and the Vietnamese. America and it's allies had no quams about doing bussiness with Pol Pot ( re; export/ import numbers) Will Miho has no concept of the truth, and only knows about Cambodia from that crappy propaganda movie "the Killing Fields". |

Cambodia - The Truth

A movie better written, but whitewashing certain applicable points that describe the primary reasons why we were in VietNam following up after the French, would be "The French Connection". |

GOD = Gold Oil Drugs - one of the key phrases that Michael Ruppert uses to describe the economy. Strange how Malaysia is now minting a gold dinar peice. I've heard theories about Kennedy's $2 bill ( which was gold backed) being his downfall. |
