Default DIY mic element from Digi-Key now obsolete

For anyone considering building the DIY mic described in TapeOp and reprinted on
Prosoundweb at

http://prosoundweb.com/recording/tap...mic_16_1.shtml

you should know that Digi-Key sent out a note indicating the Panasonic mic
element, part number P9959-ND, is now obsoleted there and they show no suitable
replacement. Yet, at least.

Glad I bought a dozen of those little buggers when I did.

Originally, the WM-063 was the standard inexpensive omni. It was replaced
with the WM-60, which I think is the one the Tape Op project uses.

You can try the WM-61A, which has a slightly noisier FET, or the WM-62A
which has reduced top end. They should all work in the same circuit.

Excellent, thanks for that Scott. I've volunteered to teach another afterschool
class in spring and wanted to do the same project we did earlier this year.
