That's hardly a new concept. This one from Joel Mabus goes back about

Duct tape is gawdawful, horrible stuff, they ought to outlaw it.

I much prefer gaffer tape, but it's impossible to find at a Home Depot
or hardware store.

Then again, a song about gaffer tape probably wouldn't sell to well.

Duck Tape, great stuff. I llike taping the mallard's legs together, so they
can sit on one foot, and use them for "Duck Bowling", but it's a little late
in the year for that.
Gaffer Tape: This stuff is the best! Made with a "stick to the skin" kind o'
glue. Slap this tape over the mouth of the gaffer and problem solved. Now
this tape is perfect for this time of year!

Well, that all depends on whether you're using it to tape a duct or secure
some cables to the carpet, doesn't it? The right tool for the job, you
know.
