Default Which Headphones?

I have for a longer period been using Koss Porta Pro, and are quite
satisfied with them. But, they dont cover background noices good
enough e.g. when sitting on a plane I'd like to have some closed
headphones instead.

So, the headphones need to block out noice for airplane use. If
possible be quite compact to easliy be carrie with me. And not too
expencive $100-$150.

Any recomendations?

I have been using Sony MDR-NC10 noise canceling 'inner ear' type for 4
years.
These are the best inner ear type I've tried; much better than Sony's open
noise canceling type MDR-NC20 (tin can sound)
Before I used Sony's MDR-CD900 as my 'traveling headphone', now always the
MDR-NC10.
At home I use the Swiss Ergo AMT (Heil Air Motion Transformer driver), a bit
heavy, but sound amazing.

Discrete old-timer

Sony MDR 7506 - available from pro audio stores and online merchants such as
Musican's Friend for around $100.

If you want a similar sound in a highly compact format, try Sony's
MDR-EX70LP ear buds. Available from Sony dealers including Amazon and
Buy.com for $40-50.

Get earphones not headphones:

I have the ER-6s. They sound great and they do a better job of blocking
outside noise than any headphones. Much smaller for carrying, $150,
perfect for airplanes.

Shure also makes similar models:
