Default Best multi function effects box

Tons of options & it all depends on whether this is to be his only hardware
effects device or not, does he want clean & transparent or weird & gnarly, lots
of factory presets or lots of user editability, etc.

He'll start out using this live (his only effect), reverb and chorus
primarily (Mixable in the unit?), clean & transparent, he isn't the
editing type.

Thanks;

TC M-One, as a starting point. Lexicon MPX1, also. Somewhat pricier, a Yamaha
SPX990.
