National recording artist and 2003 Grammy Award-winner John Mayer has announced
he will donate a portion of the proceeds from his upcoming concert at
the Richmond
Coliseum to the Local Disaster Fund of the Greater Richmond Red Cross.
For each ticket sold, $.50 will be donated to the Red Cross to assist
relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Isabel.

In a press statement released by the Coliseum Mayer said, "After seeing
the damage from Hurricane Isabel, I wanted to do my part and contribute
to the relief effort." Mayer received a Grammy this year for Best Male
Pop Vocal Performance for the song "Your Body Is A Wonderland" off of
2001's Room For Squares. The record has since gone triple platinum. The
singer/songwriter is currently on tour to promote his latest studio
release for Columbia Records, Heavier Things.

Mayer comes to the Richmond Coliseum on Sunday, Nov. 23, with special
guests The Thorns. Tickets are $34.50 and are available through
Ticketmaster outlets.

I also wonder if the tickets had been $34.00, and now they're $34.50.

I think Mayer is from VA, like Dave Matthews. Anyone know?

Well it sounds like John Mayer has been clinging to Dave's nuts since
birth, so I suppose, yes, in a way he is from Virginia.

It means John Mayer is the biggest rip-off since Behringer started
making mixers.

I just don't see (hear) it. Way different music, writing, arrangements,
etc. And their voices do not sound the same at all in my opinion. Now to
me, Coldplay's singer sounds just like Dave Mathews, I get them mixed up
all the time.

I think John knows more chords than Dave, or at least uses them.

Can't stand either one of em. Dave Mathews may be the most overated act
in history from my perspective.

I would have a tough time deciding. There are so many to choose from.
