Recently I was at a studio standing around adding my 2 cents to a mix being
done of my stuff and there were several headphones hooked up to a DAT machine & also a Masterlink. After listening to the Studio Monitors for awhile of course I put on the phones & noticed the imaging was opposite. The mix being printed was opposite of what I was hearing through the monitors. I got a problem with that. Especially since I'm panning things the way I want it through the monitors. Session came to a halt for awhile until we all got a grip on what was actually going on and tracing ALOT of cables. It didn't seem to bother the engineer much because he's used to that but then again these tunes aren't his babys but I got a problem with it. Anbody else? I've since talked to several folks who don't give a bjork about wheteher a drum kit is being heard from in back or in front or a piano's low end coming from what side etc. I guess panning was something I took for granted, especially at a studio with the meter running. Anyway............. |
