Default Uisng sample libraries on a computer

I've found a handful of sample libraries that I like and would like to
purchase one of them. However, they are in Akai format. I don't have a
hardware sampler as I write most of my music in Reason.

Is there any software that could read the Akai CDROMs and convert them
into other formats? Most everything I find seems to be in Akai format.
Do I just have to buy a hardware sampler or is there a generic software
sample player I could use?

Doesn't reason read Akai format? If not I believe they have an app that allows
you to to turn other foramts to the rfl format. It's called something like a
rfl packer or something like that.

I thought I remember seeing some literature on Gigasampler that mentioned it
can take Akai formats - check with a Giga dealer, or maybe someone who has it
on their own system can tell you.

Yes, Giga can read Akai discs with its built in converter. There is another
program called "Translator" that may do what you need. I think it's by Chicken
Systems.
