Marisol Colon, of Springfield, is arrested after assaulting a police officer

SPRINGFIELD €“ Police arrested three people after they assaulted each
other and a police officer in the Forest Park section of the city early
Saturday morning, officials said.

Officer Kimberly Brantley responded to 27 Continental St. around 3 a.m.
to interview Marisol Colon, 34, of 53 Hamburg St. after neighbors
complained about a disturbance at the home involving Colon, Gregory
Garcia, 37, and Candice Scott, 30, both of 27 Continental St.

Officers witnessed Garcia physically assaulting one of the women on the
porch of the home.

€œOfficers saw Garcia physically throw one of the women outside on the
porch and continue to assault her,€� said Sgt. Paul K. Brown.

When she attempted to talk with Colon about the situation, Brantley was
physically assaulted, Brown said. She was not seriously injured.

Colon is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer,
resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Garcia is being charged with
resisting arrest and assault and battery. Scott is being charged with
disorderly conduct, Brown said.

All three will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Tuesday.
