Default Speaker Wire For New Home Theater

Hello,
I have another question.
I am about to buy some speakers for my new home theater and I want the
best wire suitable for my receiver and 60" plasma tv.
Does anybody have any recomendations?
My old system was Dolby ProLogic surround system with a passive sub-
woofer and Bose cubes in the front, weak rear speakers and a center
speaker. I bought the system 17 years ago and I have not changed the
speaker wire since then.
I don't know if I should use the same stuff with the more powerful and
advanced system.
The front speakers will be mounted in the bookshelves that are being
custom built and will also house the plasma tv.
The rear speakers will be wall-mounted with a distance of about 10
feet front screen to back wall.
It's also a 7.1 receiver so I will have to take that into
consideration as well.
Thanks again for any help you may offer.

Yes, brand name means nothing. Simply use the largest gauge stranded wire
you can buy that will fit the terminals from Home Dept or whatever.

You did not disclose the size (gauge) of the current wires, the impedance
of the speakers, or the amplifier power. Generally, any decent-size
cable will work just as well as the most expensive name-brand premium
snake-oil boutique cable. Number of channels, digital, Dolby, etc. have
nothing to do with determining the proper size for speaker wire.
