I've been enjoying some needle drop's lately, and after explaining
what they were to my girlfriend, she asked "what kind of sense does that make if the LP just ends up on CD?" I immediately remembered that it never really made any sense to me either other than the fact my ears seem to enjoy some of them far more than their "regular" CD equivalents (even CDs that are not digitally remastered but use the original mix). The first obvious explanation that seems to make any sense to me is that the EQing ends up being different at the end of a phono chain than it is at the end of a regularly mastered CD, and that my ears simply prefer the former. Is there/could there be anything else to it? Could someone please shed some light on this subject for me? |
