Chait comments on an ABC news report on rich people who, evidently not
understanding marginal tax rates, are decreasing their income to stay
below $250k.

Stephen

maybe they are decreasing their efforts to make more than $250 k.
A highe maqrginal tax rate menas that more marginal effort results in
lower marginal income.
Would you ask a plumber making $20 per hour for a 40 hour
week to work an extra 20 hours per week for only $15.00 an hour
for those extra hours? Or would you expect that
he should make MORE per hour for his marginal effort over 40 hours,
say, like time and a half, or $30.00 per hour.
