Depends what kind of sound you are after. Aimed at one of
the body's lower bouts, you'll get a warm, tubby sound. I
have got a good combination of weight and definition with
an omni slightly higher than the bridge and a couple of
inches to its side, about 8" away from the bridge. But you
need to discuss the miking with the player, because he
also needs space to play without hitting the mike,
particularly if he uses a bow.

Depends on the height of the player but I'm guessing about 2'. I'll be
happy to measure when I get home from Orlando. (The Mouse sends his
