Today's republican party is not "conservative" by any definition. What
they are is selfish. So let's call a spade a spade. The GOP is the
Selfishness Party.

So far it's unanimous. I'm totting up your mumbly gurgling comment as
agreement on account of it's still holiday time, more or less.

I hope the vote total does not exceed 10, I
wouldn't want such a high count to tax your intellectual capabilities.
Where did you learn your vote
counting skills, down in Florida?

Don't be a sore winner. Your vote is in the right basket, so you can
toddle off and pickle your liver until the Black Sea swallows your
caravan.

What would you call the republican party?

Whatever your definition turns out to be I think "in a shambles" is
appropriate. Perhaps the best answer is that they do not stand for
anything. Maybe the "Selfishness Party" is only a close second.

The Republican voter is not selfish at all, but votes against his/her
interest with the understanding that "those people" are hurt worse.

Your logical knots tax my brain. Maybe you could read that again and take a
whack at the ambiguities, not to say contradictions, which would of course
be damaging to your self-esteem because certain engineers didn't do well in
school.

What would you call the republican party?

a political party with many competeing
factions, each one having particular interests.
I would characterize the democratic party being the same.

I'm looking forward to the Obama presidency. So far he looks focused,
organized, and willing to put partisan bull**** aside for the good of
the country.

It'll be a very welcome change from the "aw, shucks" republican
'integrity' and 'moral compass' of the last eight years.

Yes, that's his philosophy. Too bad the republicans still have 41 Senate
seats to thwart his initiatives.

Indeed. Bush & Co. went way, way overboard with the "don't ask, don't tell"
shtick when they applied it to circumventing the Constitution.

So who was talking about corruption? I was talking about stupid
decisions based entirely on ideology, hypocrisy of the highest order,
stupid decisions based entirely on stupidity, separation of church and
state, attacks on civil liberties, divisiveness, ignorance and a lot
of other things.

Corruption didn't even enter my mind. Are you accusing bushie and the
republicans of corruption? That would not surprise me at all, but what
have you got?

The ideology of the GOP members in power has little to do with the
ideology of a great number of the rank and file. Both the GOP and Dem
ruling elites are controlled by globalist, state corporatist elites
with mostly window dressing and a few inconsequential hot button
"issues" for the followers to fixate on.

In rec.audio.opinion, George M Middius had the audacity to say that:

Today's republican party is not "conservative" by any definition. What
they are is selfish. So let's call a spade a spade. The GOP is the
Selfishness Party.

If you're referring to my post, it's called an "opinion". It's not related
to audio, but that shouldn't bother a certified idiot like yourself. Your
spiritual master, Witless Scottie The Supreme Idiot, has infinitely blessed
"OT" posts on RAO forever and ever and ever.

Do you even know what "troll" means in the context of Usenet?
