I have a Vandersteen speaker with a buzz. The high bass driver cone
has become separated from its surround. How can I fix it best? The cone is some sort of plastic and the surround is rubber. The speaker is far past warranty. |

I have a Vandersteen speaker with a buzz. Stop using it immediately. You probably have a rubbing voice coil. If this continues for any amount of time, the voice coil will rub through, and become open. The high bass driver cone has become separated from its surround. How can I fix it best? Someone who knows what they are doing might be able to shim the voice coil to recenter it, and reglue the surround. The cone is some sort of plastic and the surround is rubber. The speaker is far past warranty. It may already be far past help. Contact Vandersteen for a new driver if one is needed. http://www.vandersteen.com/pages/Pdffiles/RepairIns.pdf |
