What utter rubbish!
no inclusion of the real headaches: wow and flutter, squeal, azimuth error,
improper erase, drop-outs, print-through. How accurate is the 'off-tape'
monitor delay at the 3 speeds? where lies the safe peak level? Any
proprietary noise reduction system?
And ultimately, where is the ersatz tape storage done and how does it later
retrieve recorded signals?
You could probably buy a 2nd-user Studer or Revox and a couple of NAB 1/4"
tape reels for less than an ATS-1.
